Random Tuesday: Schaudt Gallery is now on Etsy!

Prints now available at the Schaudt Gallery Etsy Shop! Happy Tuesday!

Random Tuesday!: Seascape

Seascape, Acrylic on Canvas, 16″x20″, 2010.

I was playing with textures when I painted this, but it is sort of an odd man out. I like it anyway, of course, perhaps because I identify. So for your viewing pleasure, here is my ruffly, fish taily, and tentacly view of the sea.

Random Tuesday: Orange Trees on View

Orange Trees, Original painting by Jessey Schaudt, Acrylic on Canvas, 8″x10″, 2010.

This little guy hangs on my wall and I see it several times a day. It’s much larger companion, Red Walk, was sold long ago. Despite it’s stature, I worked hard on this fella, and hope you love it. Happy Tuesday!

Animal Monday: Mr. Lion, I Still Heart You!

Lion, original painting by Jessey Schaudt, Acrylic on Gallery Wrapped Canvas, 24″x36″, 2010.

I loved making this painting, and wouldn’t mind doing another Lion/Wizard of Oz piece! Enjoy your Monday mammal from Schaudt Gallery!

Falling Into September

This of all months is my favorite! The air slightly cools, the weather is perfect, not to mention it is the month of my birth.  There is motivation in the air.  I went back to school this year, and my first two weeks tell me, I don’t have time for this! I am making the time, however, and I will power through!  Compared to what I normally do, my class projects are fairly simple and straight forward.  I am sure they will grow progressively more difficult, but with the teachers not knowing my background, I feel a little like a cheater.  They do know that most of the students are artists, but I also think they assume we haven’t been at it for long.  That being said, I’m not claiming to be the most advanced of the class by any means.  Black and white geometric 2d design is not exactly my forte. I will learn enough to bring my work to the next level, in order to further tantalize your eyes!

As for my art, I am taking a couple of pieces to Art Works in Richmond, VA next weekend! So if you’re in the area go check it out!  I’m not sure when the exhibit will start, so stay tuned for further information concerning that! Afterwards, my next show is penciled in for Lucie Monroe’s in November after Thanksgiving.  I will inform you about that also when the show is more concrete. For that show I am hoping to have new portraits, and some nature inspired pieces. Not to say that everything isn’t somewhat inspired by nature in one way or another.

The two paintings shown here are by a fantastic figurative artist, Lori Earley. You can find her in the Hi-Fructose archives or online. I love her style and soft ethereal touch. There are a couple of semi nude paintings, so if you are easily offended you may not want to navigate to her page.

Thanks for stopping by! Don’t forget to take a look at my art, and let me know which one is your favorite!

Art Makes Money for Government

I found this article at artforum.com/news

See, art can be useful!

“08.23.10

BBC News reports that overseas visitors to the UK’s major museums and galleries boosted the nation’s economy by over $1.5 billion in 2009. Of about thirty million visits made to the UK last year, over a third included a trip to a leading cultural institution, a report by VisitBritain said. French tourists paid the most visits to museums, while holidaymakers from the US favored art galleries.

The data derives from a VisitBritain-sponsored question on the International Passenger Survey, carried out by the Office for National Statistics. “This survey showcases the international appeal of Britain’s culture and heritage,” said Sandie Dawe, chief executive of VisitBritain. “We are fortunate in the authenticity of what we have to promote and the connections that our rich culture makes across the world,” she added.”
